What, No Media Training?

Deer in headlights was one take-away from the Democrats rebuttal to President Trump’s border wall plea. Speaker of the House and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer fit that bill.

Why weren’t these leaders coached to look at the other when s/he was speaking? Preferably with a smile and an occasional nod to add endorsement to the other’s thoughts and words. It’s Media Training 101.

Another Congresswoman made a media faux pas last week, as well. When all eyes and ears were on the first Muslim woman to be elected to Congress,#unapologeticallyMe Michigan Democrat Rashida Tlaib used her “15 minutes of fame” to, wait for it, brand Trump! And with one of his favorite expletive-deleteds, no less. A 19th Century eccentric once said, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!”

But Pulitzer-prize winning New York Times columnist, Maureen Dowd said it best, “they (the new Congressional brat pack) should focus on the big picture: Trump is doing such an amazing job as a vulgarian and villain, it would be a shame to get in the way.”
