Stepping Out of Bounds

Miami Dolphins’ Richie Incognito didn’t stay disguised as a “team player” long enough to avoid indefinite suspension by the Miami Dolphins when his racist bullying was exposed.

The target of his cruelty, Stanford-educated rookie linebacker, Jonathan Martin reportedly paid $15,000 for a player trip to Las Vegas under pressure from Mr. Incognito, an apparently standard-operating procedure by veteran players.

Incognito, 30, was drafted by the Rams in 2005, joined the Bills for one season in 2009 and has been with the Dolphins since 2010. While with the Rams, he was known as “one of the dirtiest players in the league.”

Helping our players achieve their full potential, to develop and grow in a safe environment is the responsibility of those in charge, much as I expect my own children to be protected by the management of their schools, Dolphin’s head Coach Joe Philbin said.

Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said that Incognito was on the team’s “DNDC” list ahead in the 2005 NFL draft. The acronym means, “Do Not Draft because of Character.”

During a recent Colts-Texans game broadcast on NBC, former Kansas City Chiefs GM and New England Patriots’ player-personnel VP Scott Pioli said of Incognito, “I didn’t want him coming out (of college), and I don’t want him now.”

It is said that, “The camera never lies, nor does it blink.” We continually broadcast who we are by what we say and do.

Mr. Incognito, the media and your “fans” are watching!
