@NATSECWONK, the mysterious snarky Twitter voice on all things national security, has disappeared from the Twittersphere.
After 2 years of leaking internal administration information and tormenting the foreign policy community, the anonymous individual behind @NATSECWONK has been revealed: Jofi Joseph. On the verge of a leading job at the Pentagon, the Georgetown and Princeton graduate was fired and put under investigation for possible security breaches.
While hidden behind his account name, Mr. Joseph openly criticized policies of his White House bosses, often insulting their intellect and appearance. These tweets were aimed at various department officials, including former National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, Deputy National Seurity Advisor Ben Rhodes, Secretary of State John Kerry, and countless more.

During the 2012 Presidential campaign, Mr. Joseph lashed out at conservative journalists and members of the presidential campaign staff of Mitt Romney, alike:
“@MiekeEoang Come on, I expected better of you. @jrubinblogger is CRAZY unhinged while @noonanjo is an overweight paid Romney shill,”
he tweeted, referring to the Washington Post’s conservative blogger Jen Rubin and Romney campaign national security staffer John Noonan.
The revelation that Mr. Joseph was the mystery tweeter behind @natsecwonk came as a shock among the policy wonks. In part, because of his wife’s well-known and well-respected reputation as a professional staffer on the Republican side of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Little sympathy followed him, as the rest of the administration was not only taunted, but betrayed.
Mr. Joseph used his anonymity by tweeting things he believed others were thinking but would never openly say.
